The AAMHRS Consortium is pleased to sponsor the Mental Health Research Scientist Grant-Mentoring Program. The goal of this program is to provide African American mental health research scientists with hands-on mentoring in preparing a competitive grant application to submit to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).

Mentees and mentors are matched according to their theoretical, methodological, and substantive interests. Mentees are expected to submit his/her grant application to NIMH within 18 months of acceptance into the program.



Mentee/Mentor pairs are required:
  • to attend a 3-day grant workshop
  • work with each other throughout the year as the mentee develops his/her grant application
